Finish Line Event — October 10, 2009 from 3-5pm at Gill!

Finish Line Event FAQs

How early do we need to be at the Finish Line Event on Saturday?
Please plan to arrive early. To ensure the safety of all participants, the entrance into Gill and Power will be blocked promptly at 3. They will continue to be blocked until all runners  have crossed the finish line.

Where do we go when we arrive?
STUDENT CHECK-IN/REGISTRATION TABLE will be set up on the grassy island between the Power Middle School parking lot and the Power Middle School Track.  Go there first.  You’ll check-in, register if you still need to, receive your child’s bib number and a map of the event.

What if it’s cold or rainy on the 20th?
Rain or shine, the event will take place.  The start of the fun run may be delayed in the event of lightining.

Where do my children line up to start the fun run?
Running buddies will be holding signs with grade levels on them to help organize the children for the fun run. Volunteers will direct you to the START after you check-in at STUDENT CHECK-IN when you arrive. Please find your child’s grade level and help your child join that group. To keep things safe, older grades will start first because they are generally faster runners. Walkers and younger children should stay toward the back. Siblings can stay together, but the older child should join the younger child’s grade section.

Can non-Gill students participate in the Fun Run?
Yes!  Friends and family are encouraged to participate by pledging money to support their Gill student, but are also welcome to run, walk or wheel with their Gill student at the “Finish Line” event. Only registered Gill students will receive bib numbers and medals for running over the finish line.

What is a “Running Buddy?”
“Running Buddies” are parent and teacher volunteers who will be lined up behind the START holding grade level signs to organize the kids and their families for the fun run. “Buddies” will run and walk along with children to make sure they are on track should you, as a parent, not want to run or walk with your child in the fun run.

If I do not plan to run or walk the fun run with my child, where should I meet them when they are finished?
Parents who do not wish to participate in the fun run should plan meet their children somewhere near the Finish Line of the fun run and should not leave their child unattended at the event. No drop-offs will be allowed.

Can my child still participate in the Finish Line Event if they have not run any miles yet or collected any pledges?
Yes! You will need to register them at STUDENT CHECK-IN and we would just ask that you consider making a direct donation to help support the Mini-Marathon Fundraising effort. All pledges and direct donations are 100% TAX DEDUCTIBLE.
