GILL MUSTANGS ARE RUNNING WILD AGAIN THIS YEAR!
We had so much fun last year, it’s back for 2009!
Have your kids told you about the exciting FUNdraising event starting at Gill this spring? It’s called the Mustang Mini-Marathon Fundraiser and we officially kicked it off at a school assembly this past spring! At the assembly, students learned all about the Mustang Mini-Marathon and got fired up to RUN WILD* while raising money for Gill!
*Remember…walking or wheeling (for those requiring the assistance of a wheel-chair) are also wonderful ways to participate in this event!
STILL THIRSTY FOR MORE INFORMATION? Read on…
This fundraiser is unlike any other we’ve done to date at Gill Elementary. Instead of asking our kids to sell the “stuff” that every other kid on the block has been selling for years, we’re asking them to sell miles. That’s right. Miles. Our kids are going to get moving — running, walking, or wheeling* — toward a goal of completing 26.2 miles each, and they’ll be asking their friends and family to support their cause by pledging money for every mile they promise to complete. The best part? While working hard to support their education, our kids will be having fun and getting fit at the same time!
The benefits of this fundraiser are almost too numerous to count. From our Starting Line event in June to our Finish Line event in October, our kids will be involved in healthy, productive activities such as setting goals, getting exercise, challenging themselves, and raising money to better their own education. What more could a parent ask for? Oh, and don’t forget, unlike most traditional fundraisers, 100% of the money they earn will directly benefit Gill Elementary.
We got things started on Friday, May 16th at our Mustang Mini-Marathon Kick-Off Assembly where the kids learned all about how it’s going to work and how to get involved. After the Kick-Off, students went home with Mustang Mini-Marathon Registration Packets. In these packets, students and parents can expect to find everything from Registration Forms to tips on how to go about getting pledges.
From Start Line to Finish Line, Gill students will be challenged to run, walk, or wheel* up to 25 miles before arriving at the Finish Line Event on October 10th. At the Finish Line Event, they’ll join their fellow mustangs to run, walk, or wheel* the final 1.2 miles in front of adoring fans to complete their marathon.
We appreciate your support!
*Wheeling refers to those who require the assistance of a wheelchair.
